New rule.

Listen up Hollywood,

From now on if you're going to make a movie about the Holocaust in which the characters are German and repeatedly talk about being German....

THE ACTORS HAVE TO AT LEAST BE TRYING TO DO A GERMAN ACCENT!!

I'm for serious Hollywood, if I hear another character say "I'm German" in an American or British accent...Ich schlage Ihre Gesichter!!!

p.s. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

I disagree actually. This is an American film about a German story. All the characters should be speaking in German, not English with a German accent. Since they chose not to do that and all the characters in the movie are German with no real references to actual English speaking people, there is no need to be speaking in German accents. We know they're German. That's like doing Macbeth in Scottish accents or Romeo and Juliet in Italian accents. It's not necessary. Plus it distracts from the story.

And do you really want to hear Tom Cruise doing a horrible German accent?

Just my thoughts...

Nazism cured Cruise's dyslexia.

It's good to see Bill Mahr get his own "New Rules" blog.

I think alot less is expected out of actors these days. If you have a pretty face and can read a script you're in. There's no more becoming the part, and really taking roles seriously. It's a day job, not a passion. That's the sad reality.

The worst is when one actor decides to do an authentic accent and doesn't let the rest of the cast know...like Angelina Jolie in Alexander. Though Tom Cruise doing NO accent in Valkyrie is maybe just as bad. Or it just sucked cause Tom Cruise was in it.

I don't really care what accent they speak in as long as they don't have a lisp.

(you can't this right now but I am TOTALLY shaking my fist at lisps).

Damn lisps.
